Dog Calorie Calculator

How much should your Husky eat each day? This calculator gives a daily calorie estimate from your dog’s weight and life stage. Use it as a starting point, then check your dog’s body condition every couple of weeks and adjust.

Enter a weight to see the estimate.

How the estimate works

The calculator starts from your dog’s resting energy requirement (RER), which is the energy needed at rest: 70 × (weight in kg)0.75. It then multiplies that by a factor for life stage and activity. A spayed or neutered adult is usually around 1.6 × RER, a growing puppy 2 to 3 × RER, and a working sled dog can need several times more.

To turn calories into food, check the kcal per cup or per 100 g on your dog food’s label. If your Husky gains weight, feed about 10% less. If they lose weight, feed about 10% more. Remember to count treats as well.

This is a guideline only. Every dog is different, so ask your vet about the right amount for yours, especially for puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs, and dogs with health problems.
